Vida is a 7 year old Hound mix. She is a very laid back, sweet gal. She is good with other dogs and children. She loves a nice cushy doggie bed and getting her belly rubbed. She also loves going for walks. She is house and crate trained.
Athena is an eight year old Lab mix that has been in rescue a year. She is considered a senior but has the spunk of a two year old. Athena loves playing with balls, riding with her person, and naps on the couch. Athena has had a rough ride (being dumped by her prior owner, having treatment for heartworms, having acute kidney issues and now looking for a new foster). But thru all of this she has always come out on top like a champ! Athena is now heartworm negative and healthy...but still looking for a new foster or adopt home!!! Athena would do better as an only dog because the love that she has to give would fill several households. Athenaâs rough ride has also affected past meet and greetsâ¦. as we are often told that âshe is so attached to her fosterâ and possible furever homes walk away. Athena gives ALL of her love to her person, whether she has been with that person for an hour or for a year. Athenaâs wholehearted love is keeping her from finding her furever love as her foster is unable to adopt her so she continues to sitâ¦.having temporary love. Athenaâs foster cannot adopt her and now...needs her moved. Athena is desperately seeking a home where she can goâ¦.forever...and leave her rough past behind her. Is this sweet, sweet girl the love of your life that you have been looking for?
Squiggy is a one year old lab mix. He loves to play, with other dogs, people or by himself. He gets along with other dogs, especially female dogs as he knows he is a looker, but may need slow introductions with male dogs. He is working on crate and housetraining, mostly having accidents because he is so excited about being around his person. Squiggy is a medium size dog and is the perfect little companion for anyone.
I am a 10 year old Pomeranian. Let me tell you about my little adventureâ¦or some would say nightmare. I was with a family for ten years who took care of meâ¦.at least medically because I am heartworm negative, I have a gorgeous coat, and other than a few teeth that have been removed I got a good set of chompers. I got into the car with my family one day, which I was super excited about because I LOVE to ride, but by the end of the day found myself sitting on cold concrete and behind metal bars at the county shelter. Now, I know that I have some issues but after ten years??? the family that helped me develop these issues due to lack of training and environment dumped me? Sad that they had a choice but I did not. Well there was quickly comfort in the form of BARC Humane Society. Without knowing anything about me other than I had been dumped at the shelter about 30 minutes prior to their arrival, they rescued me. I was in a home again. Well as I became comfortable I started showing how I express myself in inappropriate ways and since my prior owner never corrected me, it became all I knew. I snap. I snap to express my dislike of something; like being picked up when I donât want to be or being nudged in a certain direction. I am housetrained, can co-exist with other dogs and cats, and do well on a leashâ¦â¦ but I snap. Now luckily my foster parent has been patient with me and is working on correction but letâs face it, Iâm ten and may never change my ways. I now realize that my prior family didnât take care of me when they allowed this behavior to continue and did not tell me that it was wrong. Now BARC Humane Society has the difficult task of trying to find me a forever home that is willing to be patient with me and understand that my first family let me down and lack of training and correction has developed into a special need that puts me at risk. Iâm easy to learn and I like to be held, just on my own terms. After finding rescuers out there like BARC I know that a special family is out there for meâ¦.are you that family?
Shirley is a five year old pit mix. She seems to be mixed with rabbit as she likes to bounce and play. Shirley gets along with other dogs but likes to play hard. She is crate trained and mostly housetrained. She will capture your heart when you look into your gorgeous eyes.
Kahuna is a three year old pit mix. He is sweet and active and happy. Kahuna gets along with others. He will need a family that will be a leader to assist him in managing his puppy strength and energy. Kahuna is very smart and picks up on training fast. He is house and crate trained.
This gorgeous boy is Aries. A three to four year old Shepherd mix who is extremely affectionate and loyal. Aries gets along with other dogs and cats with proper direction. Aries is a wonderful, sweet, loving and gentle giant and deserves a home where his health needs can be maintained. Aries needs a special home. Aries will be on seizure medication for the rest of his life and has some anxiety needs, always wanting to be with his person, but does not have destructive behaviors associated with this anxiety. Aries needs consistency and regular exercise to manage his anxiety. Aries has difficulties in a crate due to having a seizure inside of a crate that has made him fearful. When left unsupervised he does well in a small enclosed area, which would be for his safety if he had a seizure while alone. Aries is heartworm positive and will complete the initial slow treatment but will need to remain on monthly preventative.
Mavis is a 1-2 year old Catahoula/bulldog mix. She is very sweet and loves tummy rubs! She does still need some basic training but would make a great addition to any family. She loves children and gets along with most other dogs. She has been around cats but never really seems to pay attention. She would make a great running partner! She is crate trained and working in house training. She is a jumper so even though she loves children, we would recommend older children. She needs slow/proper intros to new pups but really hasn't met anyone she doesn't like. She can be a loud and hard player with other pups.
Farley is a one year old Tabby . He gets along very well with other cats and dogs. He has fun like only a kitten can and plays with everything. He is very affectionate.
His name should be Shadow instead of Lightning since he's never far away. He's an absolute cuddle bug. He enjoys belly rubs and car rides. Playing with fur friends and human friends of all shapes and sizes. He knows basic commands- sit, off, come, down, go in (your crate). He'll make a great addition to just about any family. He also loves to play but will calm down and snuggle just as fast as you sit down. He will become your shadow and love you unconditionally. He is trained to walk nicely on a leash. He does well with other non-dominant dogs with proper introductions.
Frannie is a 1 year old hound mix. She is house trained and crate trained. Knows basic commands such as sit, shake, lay. She's the biggest baby you've ever seen. She tends to underestimate her size. She's very good in the car, except she's a window licker.. lol. She is good with other non-dominant dogs but needs proper intros. She's very sweet and just loves attention.
Liv is a two year old Hound mix. She is calm, sweet and gorgeous. She get along with other dogs and LOVES children. She likes playing outside with her family, going for walks and belly rubs. She walks well on a leash, does well on car rides and is house trained. She is working on crate training as she does not like being away from her person. She is quiet but sometimes reminds you she is a hound with her little howl .
Pearl is a five year old pit mix. Pearl is just that, a gem of her breed. She is happy 24/7 and will run and jump with joy when around her people. She is a chunky, bouncy sweetheart. Pearl has a great temperament and loves to ride shotgun in the car. Pearl is dominant with other dogs and has some resource aggression. She just thinks that she has enough love to give that you donât need another pet.
Cooper is a five year old Pit mix. He is a big blocky headed, squishy faced baby. With new people Copper can sometimes be timid (this big lug will sometimes even shake), but once he realizes that he is safe he canât get enough love. Copper has a very good temperament and mostly goes with the flow. He is good on a leash and will bounce around like a four month old pup. Copper loves his treats and could stand to lose a few pounds. Cooper isnât a huge player with other dogs, preferring to walk away. When confronted, he give corrective snaps. Seems to do better with smaller dogs and curious with cats.
Tommy Boy is a two year old Tabby. He was found as a stray but after one short encounter it was evident that at one time he had a home because he LOVES people. Tommy Boy loves to snuggle, being held and resting his head on your shoulder. He also loves to eat, curl up on soft pillows and talk to his person. Tommy does well with calm dogs and cats. Looking for a companion that will make you their whole worldâ¦.Tommy Boy is your guy!
Rebel isn't really a rebel, he is a sweet angel! Rebel is such a funny dude! He will dance for you when he is excited, and he just loves to be pet. Rebel is doing very well with crate training, and is working on potty training. He learns better once he trust you. It takes him awhile to trust. He is not a big cuddle-bug, but he loves to be petted and loves to be praised. He responds better to praise in training than to treats. He walks very well on the leash.
Everyone meet Roxie! And let me tell you all she is a character! Roxie is an active 7 month old Bulldog Mix. She's a wild one (she's gonna need a doggy friend or active family to tire her out) -Cuddle bug ?? -Lovable & loyal ?? -Crate trained ?? -Great with dogs ?? -Potty trained ???? -Knows sit, down, heel ???? -Loves babies
Augustus is a big ol goof. He loves to play, and has the biggest smile you've ever seen! He is learning basic manners, and he is working on potty training and crate training. He is a quick study and is doing very well with all everything he is learning.
Leonard is a very sweet boy. He loves to be near his people, and will do most anything to please you. He knows how to sit, lay down, and shake. He is very obedient and picks up on things very quickly. He is potty trained and doing very well with crate training. He gets along with other dogs.
I'm Dutchess. I am a beautiful shimmering black beauty. I love people...especially ones that give me massages, peanut butter, and let me snooze in the sun. I would, however, prefer not to share my home with other dogs, cats, or young children. I am a two-year-old female pit bull mix, and I'm crate-trained and house-trained. I love nice long walks and car rides. I'm quiet, content, and I am currently in training to correct leash pulling and jumping. I already know basic commands such as let's go, sit, lay down, heal, come, stay, and crate. I will need to be crated inside when I'm left alone because I find so many things to chew, and if I'm left alone outside, I probably won't be able to resist digging in the dirt.
Sweet and smart Rufus can be shy at first, but give her time (playtime with the laser also helps), and she'll be snuggling with you when you're not looking. While not a superfan of being held, she'll let you hold her for head scratches. Gets along with small, senior dogs, and cats.
A little purr machine that loves to be with people, and his feather wand toys. Loves to be groomed and spoiled by his older foster fursiblings, and likes to be near his small canine foster sibling. Daryl loves giving face rubs, and LOVES getting held and given all the attention he can get from everyone in the home. He will go up to his foster siblings, stick his head up to them until they groom him... Spoiled much?
Two year old Black Cur mix. Sweetness covered in fur. Gets along with dogs, cats, kids. Obsessed with human affection. Timid and shy in new situations. Learns well but needs consistency and patience. Not house or crate trained.

Daphne is fun loving and still a puppy at heart. She will need a canine friend who loves her puppish ways like you will! She is crate trained and is doing well with her house training. She is very affectionate and loves to crawl in your lap for snuggles. She loves to play with tennis balls. She will chase down one while still holding onto the last one, all the while prancing like a horse. She will need a home with no cats.
***Zen the Cat*** This is what his foster has to say about him! There is a reason he has been named Zen. He is so laid back that he doesn't care about the energetic foster dog, as long he isn't in his face. He loves sleeping on my feet or against me, and often is in the same room as I am. Zen loves food and the laser toy, though he'll play with feather wands as well. He's also a sucker for fleece blankets/throws. He's very food motivated. He'll meow for food, knows his name, and when you've caught him doing he shouldn't. He tolerates me carrying him around (even like a baby) and hugging him. He's just more of a stalker now, making sure he knows where I am at all times.
Waffleta is a 1-2 Year old terrier mix. She is house and crate trained and loves spending her afternoon cuddling and playing wuth her foster brother and sisters. She is also good on a leash and cat and kid friendly. Although she has a slight limp, this does not stop her from running around and enjoying life. If you want a pup who can chill and active, Waffleta is your girl!

Meet West! He's a shepherd/Black Mouth Cur mix, approx. 10 months old who's just learning what it means to be a pet, and loves it! It takes a few days to gain his trust, but once you do it's worth it! He's very affectionate and enjoys being close by. He is a puppy, so that means lots of action! He's really begun to enjoy walks and chasing after balls and sticks. He especially loves running around a big back yard and would love to have another dog to play with. He's making great progress with crate and house-training, but you'll want to be patient with him as he's new to it all! He's a great guy for a family who's looking for someone to play and keep active with!
This is Kibou! (Key-boh) He is a handsome 1-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix who's very curious about this new life outside of a backyard pen. Kibou is learning very quickly how to be a great pet! He was brought into the shelter with his mom who was emaciated and heartworm positive. Kibou never got to have a chance at being someone's pet, but was instead left outside to fend for himself. He's a very sweet boy who is learning how to walk on a leash and how to introduce himself to other dogs, as these things weren't shown to him when he was little. He's very smart and loves to fetch! Will make a great family member to someone who can continue teaching him manners and show him the love he missed out on for so long.
Layla is an eight-year-old pure bred Pomeranian (without papers). She is crate-trained and house trained. She's quiet and content, she's a very clean dog, and she is very easy to love and care for. Layla is timid at first, but after she gets to know you, she's extremely loving and affectionate. She was with her previous owner since she was 6 weeks old and she spent most of her life in a crate, so her crate is her safe place. She is calm, but also energetic, and she loves to play fetch with a tennis ball. She walks well on a leash and is very well-mannered.
